Thank you so much to all of our Neighborhood Watch volunteers who came out on November 1. We still block captains and event planners! Please email or call if you are interested in helping out in any capacity. There will be another Neighborhood Watch meeting on November 15, 2007. We will have a representative from ADT there to discuss discounts on Home Security Systems as well as more opportunities to plan for our neighborhood night out. Get involved and help make our community a safe place to live and play. We need you!
Thank you again for your time and support!

I would like to propose that subdivision discuss the possibility of having another patrol officer for just our subdivision to work hours opposite our current patrol officer from Harris County Sheriff's Department. Our current patrol officer is Deputy Ta and his salary is paid by Ricewood MUD.

Officer Boatman is the person in charge of the contract division of the Department and could give you information as to the cost of this additional service.

By my calculations, if we have roughly 800 families in the subdivision and the fee is somewhere about $40,000 (Ricewood currently pays $52,000 to patrol the entire Ricewood district which is larger than just our subdivision) then the cost to each homeowner is $4.16 per month. I can't imagine that anyone would dispute paying $4.16 for a safer neighborhood. The cost would be even less is the HOA offset some of that cost with surplus funds.

Thank you for your consideration.

The board is considering the possibility of adding another patrol officer to our neighborhood. The steps taken at this time are: contact other subdivisions and see if we could share the cost and the officer would patrol the participating neighborhoods; contacting the contracts office to determine the total cost of one patrol office that is not shared with other neighborhoods; and requesting officers that we know to contact the HOA in the event that they or someone they know would be available to do this as a contracted individual.

There should be a notice on the marquee sign by the clubhouse indicating when each Neighborhood Watch Committee Meeting will be held. The sign needs to be on both sides of the sign. I was out walking tonight and the marquee was blank. Isn't there a mtg this week???
On another note, there continues to be several lights out at the clubhouse/park. There is also a light hanging by the wires on the clubhouse. This was discussed at the Oct. Board Meeting, when the Board told us they were all being repaired thata very evening. This is unacceptable and the Neighborhood Watch Committee should ensure safety items like this in the neighborhood be repaired ASAP. What can we do to ensure this happens?
